well ... we were all horrible at some point .. which is awesome, since it help us to become better =p

full view is obviously necessary.

Those are pretty much ... 90% of the drawings i did in my life .. there's one or another that is not there.

ps. i also gave a home theater to my friend as a wedding gift .. im not that cheap =p .. the drawing was for the invitation and ended up used everywhere they needed an image of the couple lol ..

ps2. lol .. just noticed this happened to be my 100th deviation posted here =o

This is a nice way to present your artist path.

What I find amazing for artists like you is that at some point, you see there is suddenly a huge gain in quality, as if something just switched on in your mind. I'm still searching for that switch myself, and I keep faith I'll be able to turn it on too ;)

that "click" does happen from time to time. I believe it's because all of us at some point get stuck on something. When I first started on digital drawing I couldn't figure out how to blend colors properly. One day it simply "clicked". It's exactly like lvling up in a game and getting a new skill point lol. Eventually it just makes sense.

from that point foward I simply improved, developed new skills, tried new things and so forth. It's always usefull to check what other artists are doing. One thing that I see as the biggest problem of some artist out there is that they think they are good. I don't say this on a pejorative way, but I believe they get used at hearing from people "omg, your art is awesome", from people that don't really understand art in itself and are just saying something nice instead of giving a proper critic. Then you go and say what they are doing wrong, what they can improve ... and they don't like it! lol

People need to understand that they suck. Again, I don't mean that in a bad way, because once you realise that you suck, you'll start to look for ways to improve. To this day I still follow a lot of artists from different styles, regardless of their "skill level". It doesn't matter how good you are, you'll always find artists that are better than you. Learn from them! Eventually you see a guy that has this cool technique of making hair that fits well your style. Then you see a guy that put anime traits in realistic drawings and ... it works! Then you see a guy that have a very cool grasp of dinamism and cool camera angles ...

when you put all of those together, and add your own touch .. you improve a lot as an artist. While the people that think they "rock" are still doing the same crap over and over again and don't get better.

ps. by all means this is not directed to you .. it's simply something that I thought it was worth pointing out, since I see it happens a lot. The point is: learn, improve, try new things, new techniques .. some times you might simply be trying to follow a style that you are not good at. I mean, for all those things that I'm good at drawing, I can't draw a cartoon, stylized, anime ... it simply doesn't work. =p

I think you definitely have summarized the best method to improve. Thanks a lot for this fantastic answer. You're definitely right about those 'leveling' moment. Even if I still cannot draw like you, I know when I leveled those last years

What is great in our time now is that there is a huge number of excellent tutorials and of artists wishing to share their knowledge, while in the 90s it was necessary to discover almost everything by yourself and analysing finished artworks. That is why I'm so motivated these days to walk again on the path of improvement.

And you'll definitely be a source of inspiration for me ;)

Personally I've been discouraged for years until recently. I'm only 17, but I know that with practise I WILL be as good as the many artists around the world like yourself when I'm older. :) I'm in the same mind-set where I know I'm not the best, that there are people better than me etc. but that won't stop me from reaching their standards.

This was the inspiration I needed. I've been wrestling with trying to draw myself, and I just never knew where to begin or how to start. But this nipped it in the bud. Thx for this m8. God willing if I ever get to where I want to be, I'll remember you as one of my #1 inspirations.

you know .. it's actually kinda weird because several times when I look at some drawings of mine I think like "how the hell did I do that". So it's a little hard for me to simply come up with a tutorial.

Usually my thought proccess is: What I want to do, how can I do that.

I already have "toolkit" of skills and things I know how to do from the top of my head, but I don't follow the exact same formula on every drawing. I'm always trying something different, trying to mix match different ways to achieve the result. It's an evolving proccess, not something set in stone.

When I tried to make tutorials by themselves I had this problem because outside of things you can find any other place, specifics like texturing, fire etc, unless I thought in a whole picture, the result was shitty.

So basically what I would have to do is get a new drawing that I make at some point and document it so people can check the reference. But there's really not a magic process. I kinda just .. do it =o

Great process, your beginning is exactly like mine, copy something, try to do my own drawing, fail and try again, but I stopped and started photo-manipulation, know i plan to start learning to draw again :D

Keep the good work

well .. i think that is the most rewarding thing i can do ...

i always thought it was really amazing when you get in touch with people that you look up to, and they reply because they are pretty much you know .. a normal person after all .. I remember when i sent an email to Bernard Cornwell (the writter) and he replied all nice and stuff .. it was awesome, to think that the guy that wrote books that a zilion of people read all over the world, was there replying my email ...

I obviously dont compare myself to any of those celebrities .. but i do realize that there's a couple dozen of people that look up to my work to improve and everything .. just like i do with other people that draw better than me.

So yeh, I think it's nice to tell people "hey, you can do it to .. im just a random guy". Because honestly .. its true =p .. i dont have any hidden magical power that other people will never get.

First of all, you're amazing.
Second, what are all the brushes you're using? Would there be a 'pack' with every single one laying around somewhere named ' These brushes are used by the almighty Pepperwolf ' if not, what're the brushes you're using on Skin / Metal. :3 Hoping for a reply.

Loving your work, keep it up! :DDD

it's the idea .. i think it's a good thing when you can reach out people .. even if only a couple hundred, and say "hey, you can do that to" ... obviously not everyone will be ultra awesome .. some people are just not born to it. But i think it's always nice to help out and motivate people to achieve a level that at least they are happy at.
